Prince William reveals he is ‘keeping an eye’ on Ukraine as he meets woman from war-torn nation at homelessness project in Cornwall

The Prince of Wales said he was “keeping an eye” on Ukraine after meeting a woman from the war-torn country.

William, 41, was in Cornwall to watch a plot of land he hopes to develop to help Britain’s homelessness crisis.

William, who is known as the Duke of Cornwall when he was in the county and took over the £1.2 billion Duchy of Cornwall estate when his father became king, is in the process of building his first housing project in Nansledan .

While in the sunny seaside town, he spoke to the crowd, including a woman who told him: “I’m from Ukraine, I’m so happy to meet you, really.”

Prince William said he was “keeping an eye” on Ukraine after meeting a woman from the war-torn country in Cornwall last week.
While in the sunny seaside town, William greeted crowds of fans hoping to catch a glimpse of him when he bumped into a smiling blonde woman from Ukraine.
The royal was in Cornwall last week, getting his first look at a pitch he hopes will change the face of Britain’s homelessness crisis.

William then said: “Ukraine? You are?’ Before asking her where she is, she is from the country.

She then replied: “To the western part of Ukraine, thank you so much for helping our country, I am so proud of you.”

William then said as he held her hand, “I’m keeping an eye on what you guys are up to.”

He then thanked her for coming to visit before shaking her hand and continuing to talk to others in the seaside town.

Announced earlier this year, the project will be delivered alongside Cornish charity St Petrocs and will provide 24 fully supported homes for local people experiencing homelessness.

The land for the homes will be provided by the Duchy of Cornwall, who will also use their management expertise to guide the delivery of the overall project.

The Duchy of Cornwall is the ancient estate which provides public and private income for the heir to the throne.

The clip also shows William talking to other Brits and he could be heard saying: ‘We’ve got a nice day for it. It’s not always like that, so it’s (delightful) to have the sun.’

Royal fans then replied: “Oh, good to see you,” after chatting with the future king.

And William’s trip to Cornwall was without his wife Kate, Princess of Wales, who is taking time off from public duties amid her cancer diagnosis.

He looked smart for the occasion, dressed in a light blue shirt with a blazer and smart suit trousers, with a pair of sunglasses.

During his journey, William visited a surf beach where he joined an impromptu game of volleyball.

He competed against teenagers from a local lifesaving club on Fistral Beach in Newquay.

The warm spring weather drew large crowds to the beach to enjoy the sand and waves.

William showed his volleying skills as his serve proved too much as the opposition repeatedly knocked the ball into the net as he attempted a return.
