Beverly Hospital Wins Champion Award in Support of Higher Education

North Shore Community College presented the hospital with the award for its commitment to providing career pathways for graduates.

BEVERLY, MA — Beverly Hospital was recently honored for its commitment to higher education and creating pathways for area graduates in health care with the North Shore Community College Champion Award.

Beverly and Addison Gilbert hospitals in recent years have expanded their opportunities as a placement site for the college’s students in the health professions and have served as the employer of choice for many of the school’s graduates, according to the NSCC presentation.

“Supporting local students directly impacts the health and well-being of our communities,” said Beverly Hosptial President Tom Sands. “We are grateful to play a role in making the North Shore healthier and stronger with the help of NSCC, and we remain committed to working with the college to advance the lives of residents in our region.”

Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals have partnered with NSCC on initiatives focused on improving the lives of local residents, especially the most marginalized.

In 2022, Beverly Hospital piloted its first ESL program for its employees through NSCC, with on-site faculty-led training and a 100% graduation rate.

Bruce Nardella, chairman of the Board of Directors of Northeast Hospital Corporation, which includes Beverly and Addison Gilbert hospitals, accepted the award on behalf of the hospitals at NSCC’s Celebration of Champions for Higher Education on April 25.

“We couldn’t be prouder to celebrate Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals and their work in our community, supporting the transformative power of higher education,” said William Heineman, NSCC President.
