Police have named a man who was fatally shot in Lambeth this weekend

Jazmel Dashourn Patterson-Low was injured on the Westbury Estate in the early hours of Saturday

The 26-year-old was left in a car at St Thomas’ Hospital, where he later died.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Squad are leading the murder investigation. There was no arrest. The car has been found and is part of the ongoing investigation.

Detective Inspector Martin Thorpe, Crime Specialist, said: “Approximately 40 people were gathered in and around St Rule Street on Friday night and into the early hours of Saturday morning. A dispute appears to have erupted shortly after 2 a.m., leading to the shooting.

“I am extremely grateful to those who have already come forward to provide information. Together with CCTV and forensics, this has provided numerous lines of inquiry which detectives are working around the clock to develop.

“I’m sure there are other people who will know what happened on St Rule Street and who was responsible for the shooting. I urge them to come forward and share this information.

“If you don’t want to speak to the police, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously. Some have already done that – I don’t know who they are, but I have their information and I thank them.”

Detective Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh, the senior officer in charge of Lambeth Police, said: “Since Saturday morning, we have remained in contact with local people and partners in Lambeth. We are all horrified by Jazmel’s brutal murder and are working together to protect and support the community.

“Jazmel’s family deserves answers. Dedicated police officers, including specialists from across the Met, are determined to do everything we can for them – to bring whoever killed Jazmel to justice and protect the community by taking her killer off the streets.

“But we need even more help from the local community to achieve these crucial goals. If you have critical information – if you know who fired that gun – please come forward and share that information now.”
