Nottinghamshire companies have been named in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work for 2024 list

Several companies in Nottinghamshire have been named as some of the best places to work in the UK – has your workplace made the list? The Times and Sunday Times have revealed their list of the best places to work in 2024 and share how companies across the country are keeping their staff smiling, such as a monthly tea allowance for staff at Bird and Blend Tea.

A total of 26 questions were used from WorkL’s employee engagement survey to give each business an overall engagement score, which looked at the areas of job satisfaction, well-being, empowerment, information sharing, instilling pride, rewarding and recognition. Participating companies were divided into four different sizes based on size.

Locate Bio, Landsmiths Solicitors and Metric are all Nottinghamshire companies that made the list, each classed as a small business with between 10 and 49 employees. A very large company is one that has 2,000 or more employees, and while this does not include any in Nottingham, it does include popular supermarket Iceland, travel company TUI and Octopus Energy.

Bird & Blend is one of a number of listed mid-sized companies in Nottingham. Founded 11 years ago by Krisi Smith and Mike Turner, the business now employs nearly 200 people and recently opened its 18th store.

Mr Turner said: “Our main aim at the top of our strategy is ‘to be known and loved as a great place to work’ and for us to receive this kind of recognition is something bigger than any financial number for us. . Every person in the business and we have 164 employees contributes in some way to our workplace culture through their actions every day.

“This culture shapes our ’employee experience,’ and this list is the best-known acknowledgment of that. So achieving this is a huge achievement that each of us should be proud to contribute to.”

Other mid-sized companies to make the Nottinghamshire list include eyewear firm Mondottica, GP Partnershealth group, which serves Rushcliffe, project and cost management consultancy Pulse Consult and SF Recruitment, which has offices in the city center as well as London, Birmingham . and Leicester.

MHR, which is an HR, payroll and finance software company in Nottinghamshire, is on the list as a larger company. The organization says it has always prioritized employee well-being and engagement, and believes that is why it has retained so many long-serving employees.
