Public risk warning as man missing from Midland mental health facility

The public have been warned to call 999 if they see a man who has gone missing from a secure mental health unit. Keel James – who is also known as James Keel – left the Redwood Center in Shrewsbury on Monday (May 13) morning and has not yet been located.

The 35-year-old poses a potential risk to the public, West Mercia Police have warned. He is currently being treated as a missing person, but officers have warned people not to approach him.




He is described as being 6ft2 and of slim build with blue eyes and fair hair. Keel was wearing a fluffy navy blue sweatshirt when he left the facility and gray sweatpants.

Police have shared an image of him as they appeal for information on his whereabouts. A spokesman for the force said: “Officers are currently carrying out inquiries after a man went missing from the Redwood Center in Shrewsbury yesterday morning (Monday 13 May)

“Keel James (also known as James Keel), aged 35, is described as 6ft2, slim build, balding blonde hair and blue eyes. When he left the secure facility, he was wearing a navy puffer jacket and gray sweatpants.”

They added: “He is currently being treated as a missing person but he may pose a risk to the public, so the public are advised to stay away from him and call 999 immediately.”
