Gary Lineker impressed by Cole Palmer’s Messiesque move against Nottingham Forest

Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has heaped praise on former England international Gary Lineker. Palmer came up with a brilliant assist in the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Lineker said Palmer’s footwork was reminiscent of Lionel Messi, who recorded more than 400 assists during his illustrious career.

Palmer deserves a lot of credit for Chelsea’s winning streak in their last three Premier League games.

The score was goalless when Palmer broke through the opposition defense with a spectacular pass. He baffled the Nottingham Forest back line with a pass that went through a narrow gap between two defenders.

Mykhailo Mudryk ran down the left flank and received the ball inside the penalty area. The Ukrainian made no mistake to find the back of the net to give Chelsea an early lead in the eighth minute of the Premier League clash.

Although the finish was pretty good, Lineker was impressed by Palmer’s assist.

Speaking on Rest is football podcast, Linekar said: “Cole Palmer, what about the pass for Mudryk’s goal? Her weight! It was a style of Messi”.

Palmer moved to Chelsea last year from defending Premier League champions Manchester City. The England international has already shown his quality for the London giants so far this season on a number of occasions. He is one of Chelsea’s top performers, scoring 21 goals and providing them with 10 assists this season.
