Disgraced Lostprophets frontman and convicted pedophile stabbed in prison ‘while held hostage for six hours’

Disgraced Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has been stabbed in prison.

The 46-year-old is serving a 29-year prison sentence for multiple sex offences, including serious offenses against young children and babies.

The pedophile suffered non-life-threatening injuries following the incident at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire.

He was reportedly taken hostage by three other inmates on Saturday morning and was released by prison officers six hours later.

A Prison Service spokesman said: “Police are investigating an incident which took place at HMP Wakefield on Saturday.

“We are unable to comment further while police investigate.”

Watkins was convicted in December 2013after admitting to 13 sex offences, including the attempted rape of a fan’s baby.

He also encouraged a second fan to abuse his child during a webcam chat and secretly hid child pornography videos, some of which he made himself.

At the time, police described him as a “hired, organized pedophile.”

After finding fame in Lostprophets, Watkins was arrested after his home in Pontypridd was searched on a drugs warrant in September 2012.

A large number of computers, mobile phones and storage devices were seized during the searches.

When he was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court, the singer was told he was being given an extended sentence – and a judge said his crimes “reached new depths of depravity”.

Watkins will serve two-thirds of his term behind bars before being released. He will serve another six years on license.

After being caught with a mobile phone behind bars in 2019, he told a court he was incarcerated with “murderers, mass murderers, rapists, pedophiles, serial killers – the worst of the worst”.
