Nottingham: Godfrey Sequeira has been elected President of MUKA.

Nottingham, 15 May: The Mangalorean United Konkani Association (MUKA) unanimously elected Godfrey Sequeira for a second consecutive term as its president at the body’s 18th annual meeting held on March 31 at the Cotgrave Club Hall.

The meeting began with the prayer of invoking the blessings of the Almighty. Acting President Godfrey Sequeira welcomed the gathering present in the hall. Godfrey Sequeira appreciated the former committee members for their tireless service during their tenure. The committee members were congratulated for a successful Easter celebration.

The annual report for the last two years was presented by Deepak Alvares. The audited accounts for the financial years 2022-2024 were read by Lydia Lewis and the approval of the general body was sought. The election for the new committee was led by John Fernandes.

The elected executive committee of MUKA for the year 2024-26 is as follows:

Addressing the general body of MUKA, Godfrey Sequeira congratulated the newly elected committee and expressed his gratitude to the former committee members. The President thanked the general body for the opportunity and promised to continue to uphold the legacy of MUKA. He also sought active support from members and expressed his desire to make MUKA a stronger association of Konkani speakers in the UK.
